Hands-on, from the ground up.

Reach. Pull. Throw.

Pluck with a pull, throw with an arm swing, and aim your whistle with your hand.

See it from down here.

A head-tracked, first-person view puts you at ground level, inside the world. A headset is optional: monitor play works with a gamepad or keyboard.

Take a friend.

Two-player online co-op: each of you in VR or on a monitor, mix and match.

More ways to play
  • Pet your Pikmin and they react to you; punch enemies with your hands.
  • Proximity voice chat with a walkie-talkie, high-fives, and handing Pikmin to your friend.
  • Wrist radar, a time-of-day watch, a camera at your hip, and tabletop view.
  • Support for the free “Pikmin 4K” HD texture pack.

THE SETUP

Before you jump in.

  • A Windows PC

    Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit.

  • VR or monitor play

For VR: SteamVR and a headset. For monitor play: a gamepad (keyboard works too).

  • Your own disc image

Your own Pikmin (GameCube, USA, Rev 1) disc image: ISO, GCM, CISO or NKit. No game files are included; your disc image is only read, never changed or copied.

Compatibility & installation

Headset support

Built and tested on the original HTC Vive. Valve Index and Meta Quest / Touch controllers (Quest through SteamVR via Link, Air Link or Virtual Desktop) should work but are untested. Other graphics cards are untested.

New install

  1. Unzip anywhere.
  2. Run nectar-launcher.exe and choose Install.
  3. Pick your disc image, then choose Open the launcher.
  4. Start SteamVR (for VR), then choose Play.

Updating

Run the new nectar-launcher.exe, choose Update, and pick your game folder. Saves and settings are kept.

Windows SmartScreen may warn because the files aren't signed: More info > Run anyway.

The first time you play online, Windows may ask about the firewall: allow it on Private networks.

What's new in 0.2.6
  • Lighter throwing: an ordinary swing reaches about 6 m. Released Pikmin no longer get grabbed straight back.
  • Wave to Recruit responds every second.
  • The camera moves to your hip; the wrist watch and radar are larger and clearer. Hold the left menu button to open the map.
  • Snap-only Immersive cutscenes, with the Whimsical Radar cutscene's flashing fixed.
  • The Forest Navel has a cave ceiling. Slopes slide correctly again, and Onion seeds no longer land in walls.
  • Fixed underwater splash noise, water ripples, photo stutter, and Beady Long Legs appearing before its entrance. Pikmin Parrot's voice is higher.

Both players need 0.2.6 for online play.

Previously in 0.2.5

An Onion could stay unopenable for the day after you skipped the morning landing with Start; it now finishes landing by itself.

Also in 0.2.4

  • Launcher fits 4K screens.
  • Voice chat carries approximately 150 m.
  • Steal your friend's Pikmin with the whistle.
  • “Back to the Ship” in the pause menu if you get stuck.
Known issues
  • Index/Quest controllers are untested.
Playing online

One player hosts and sends a join code. If it can't connect, the game shows a reply code to send back to the host. Both players need version 0.2.6.

Join codes contain your IP address, so share them only with the friend you're playing with.

VR comfort

VR can cause motion discomfort. Seated play, snap turning and one-handed play are in Settings (F1 > VR tab). Theater cutscenes (the default) are the comfortable choice.
